Aidez: Cabled Cardigan

I first saw this sweater pattern on Ravelry quite a while ago, around December 2010.  I never really thought I'd ever be able to make it.  I mean, it's intimidating just to look at!

But this year, knitting has been a little different for me.  It became a year round thing and I completed my first 2 sweaters.  And discovered a love and slight obsession for knitting sweaters.

After finishing my "Coronado Pullover" with luvinthemommyhood summer sweater knit-a-long, Kelly of Celtic Cast On announced that she and a few others were interested in a knit-a-long of the Aidez pattern that I've adored for so long.

Finished sleeves blocking.
And I don't know what happened exactly, but I really wanted to jump at the chance and give it a go.  Not at all intimidated any more.  I joined a little late, November 1, (it started at the end of September 24) but loved knitting this up so much I was able to finish before the end date (November 24)!  It probably helped that I'd just gotten back from vacation and was trying to figure out how to get back in my routine.
Knitting up the back
It is my first knit to make in pieces and then have to seam up.  I also think it looks more like a store-bought cardigan than my other 2 hand knit sweaters, which is always my personal goal.  And while I did spend $40 on the yarn, more than I would regularly on a store-bought sweater, I feel like it actually looks much more expensive.  And even if it doesn't, I think it does. :)
First seam: attaching a sleeve to the back.
I'm in love with the whole thing.  I finished the last seams on Sunday and have worn it 3 days in a row.  I'll probably put it on again later today too. :)

My knitting details can be found here.

Yay! Now I can see the front and it is indeed amazing. Definitely looks like you could spend more than $40 easily on that. I'm so impressed.
